The pricing above reflects the previous year’s program cost and is only an ESTIMATE until the final costs are posted. Although not anticipated, program costs may change due to fluctuation in currency exchange rates, tuition increases, contracted agencies, or number of participants. Billable Items, (noted with an *) will be paid directly to Drake University through your Drake University student tuition account: Please note that the billable cost does NOT include any additional expenses associated with your program, which are your responsibility - please see the Estimated Additional costs (Non-Billable) section of the budget for estimates.

ESTIMATED HOST UNIVERSITY ON-CAMPUS HOUSING & MEALS
Students studying at UKZN will pay Drake housing and meal plan fees through their Drake account during their time at UKZN. The estimate above is based on a double residence hall and residential meal plan (please note the date on the estimate as these cost may have changed). Contact your Education Abroad Advisor and visit the program page to see if more information about on-campus housing is available. It is still your responsibility to make sure you reserve the appropriate housing at UKZN.

ESTIMATED ADDITIONAL COSTS
Estimated additional costs are NOT billed to your Drake University student tuition account and include costs such as, airfare, airport tax, housing, meals, books and supplies, passport, visa, immunizations, medical visit, personal expenses, emergency funds or the cost of any independent travel. Costs can be affected by individual budgetary habits and currency fluctuations. The responsibility lies on the student to budget accordingly and responsibly. 
Estimated Additional Program Expenses include the UKZN Student Levi, Copyright Fee, and South African health insurance. This health insurance policy does not fulfill Drake's International Health Insurance requirement and is a mandatory fee as indicated by the host insittution (about $25/mo). This estimate does NOT include the cost of any optional program excursions.

FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS
Students are generally able to apply their regular Financial Aid and scholarships on an exchange program similarly to how they would apply at Drake. Students should meet with a Financial Aid Advisor to confirm this. Any Financial Aid and scholarships will be applied to your Drake student account according to the regular disbursement schedules. 

Note that the Faculty/Staff Tuition Discount for main campus courses cannot be applied to study abroad.
