DESCRIPTION 
Universidad de los Andes is a private research university located on the northeast side of Santiago, Chile. Comprised of 23 undergraduate programs and 180 graduate programs, UANDES places special emphasis on research, innovation and development. The 128-acre University Campus combines modern infrastructure with green areas where students can find all they need for learning, research, sports and extracurricular activities. Students receive support prior to departure and upon arrival through an optional airport pick up and on-site orientation. The UANDES staff provide exceptional service in helping students feel welcome and integrated into the Chilean community. 

ACADEMICS

  • Drake School of Education (SOE) students can participate in student teaching their final semester (the second half of the final term) in Santiago with the support of UANDES. Students must coordinate with the Drake SOE to setup arrangements for this student teaching option.
Note:
  • General information about exchange at UANDES can be found here
  • Credits earned through a Drake exchange program will count as transfer credits
  • Course Approval Form is required as part of the program application
  • Participants are required to maintain full-time status while abroad
  • Note: Exchange Partner semester dates do not align with the Drake University academic calendar ("Fall," or first term, is July - November and "Spring," or second term, is March - June)

ACCOMMODATIONS
  • UANDES does not offer on campus housing, but they will make recommendations for nearby housing options.
  • Housing and meals are NOT included in the Drake University tuition (they are an additional fee)

FINANCES
  • Students pay regular Drake Tuition to their Drake Account for semester and year-long programs
  • Financial Aid and Scholarships generally apply as they would if the student were studying on campus
  • All additional fees (housing, meals, books, optional excursions, airfare, etc.) will be paid separately
  • Students should meet with the Office of Student Financial Planning once a program is chosen to discuss their award amounts 

APPLYING TO A DRAKE INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Drake students participating on this program are required to complete the following steps:
  1. Drake Exchange Application
    • Watch Education Abroad 101
    • Click on the Apply Now button at the top of this page
    • Schedule a meeting with an Education Abroad Advisor BEFORE the application deadline
  2. Drake Exchange Nomination
    • Receive notification of status within three weeks after the application deadline
  3. Host University Application 
    • Schedule a meeting with an Education Abroad Advisor to complete the host university application AFTER nomination
