The Principal Center for Global Citizenship at Drake University:
Supported by the generosity of the Principal Financial Group, the Principal Center for Global Citizenship at Drake University serves as a forum for exploring the cultural, political, and economic changes that accompany globalization. The center thus helps to fulfill Drake’s commitment, as embodied in its mission statement, to prepare students for responsible global citizenship. The activities and programs sponsored by the center invite members of the Drake community to reflect and act upon their roles as citizens of particular countries and as citizens of the world.

Associated with Drake University and named after one of Iowa's most beloved Governors and his family, the RaySociety is a lifelong learning program targeted to adults in the Greater Des Moines community and beyond.

China Language Institute (CLI):
Each year, the China Language Institute (CLI) partners with a select number of schools and organizations to create one-of-a-kind, fully customizable study experiences around the world. With careful guidance from CLI’s team of American and international educators, Drake University’s RaySociety participants will gain invaluable insight into China’s rich heritage and modern ascension.
Seminar Co-Leaders:
  • David Skidmore Professor of Political Science, Drake University and Director (on leave) of the Principal Center for Global Citizenship
