Program Description:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
         Drake University’s Working Worldwide Program offers recent graduates from any academic background the opportunity to live and work in Kosovo working at a company, non-profit, or governmental organization for up to one year. Since 2005, the Working Worldwide Program has placed over 220 graduates in working positions in China & Kosovo. Placements are identified based on participant experience and employer needs. Whether you are interested in gaining professional, international, or cultural experience, the Working Worldwide Program will work to find the best setting to help you meet your goals. 

PROGRAM DETAILS
  • Accepted applicants are recommended to be placed at one of Drake University's Working Worldwide Partners.
    • The Working Worldwide Partner will then review applicants, and extend offers of employment to any approved applicants
  • Participants are employed directly by the local organization in Kosovo, not Drake University. Positions are paid, with each participant receiving a monthly salary. See below for more information.
  • The 2023-24 program fee: $975
  • Work placements are typically 40 hours a week, and paid an estimated 500 Euros a month.

APPLICATION & HIRING PROCESS
  1. Schedule a Working Worldwide advising appointment with Chelsea Funk, Assistant Director of Education Abroad here.
  2. Complete the Terra Dotta application, including two letters of recommendation: one academic and one professional.
  3. Interview with Drake Global Engagement staff. Interviews will be conducted either in-person or remotely. 
  4. If selected to move forward, our local partner will identify employers in Kosovo whose needs align with the Applicant's interest and experience.
  5. Once an employer is identified, Applicants will interview directly with the employer. 
  6. Should an employer choose to extend an offer, a contract will be executed between the Applicant and employer outlining terms of employment, benefits, and pay.
  
PROGRAM FEE DETAILS
The 2023-24 program fee for the Working Worldwide Program fee is $975. This fee includes the following services from Drake University:
  • Placement recommendation and facilitation of communication with participants' future employer
  • Guidance on work residence application process
  • Brief cultural orientation and event(s) will be organized with the Kosovo Consulate in Des Moines and Drake Global Engagement Office as appropriate
  • Enrollment in the US Embassy's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)
