Program Description:
Adjacent to the largest natural park in France, Clermont-Ferrand is the capital of the Auvergne Region. Major companies (Michelin, Limagrain, Volvic, etc.) contribute to the economic growth of the city which counts 35,000 students. World capital of short films and city of reference in terms of modern music (the Cooperative de May music venue), Clermont-Ferrand offers a wide variety of cultural events. With such an environment Blaise Pascal university provides an ideal context to the students wishing to study in one of our major training and research areas: sciences and technologies; literature, languages and arts; human and social sciences; physical and sports activities sciences and techniques.

The University also has a long tradition of welcoming foreign students (2160) who come particularly to study in the context of European programs or under the terms of international co-operation agreements with 270 institutions situated all over the world. Students will receive detailed instructions on arrival and on-site support through Blaise Pascal's International Relation's Office. Students can also be set up with a "French Buddy" who will help them become acquainted with the university and region throughout the semester.

  • Credits earned through a Drake exchange program will count as transfer credits
  • Course Pre-Approval Forms are required as part of the program application
  • Participants are required to maintain full-time status while abroad
  • Note: Exchange Partner semester dates may conflict with the Drake University academic calendar

  • Housing and meals are NOT included in the program cost

  • Students pay regular Drake Tuition to their Drake Account for semester and year-long programs
  • Financial Aid and Scholarships generally apply as they would if the student were studying on campus
  • All additional fees (housing, meals, books, optional excursions, airfare, etc.) will be paid separately
  • Students should meet with the Office of Student Financial Planning once a program is chosen to discuss their award amounts 

Drake students participating on this program are required to complete the following steps:
  1. Drake Exchange Application
    • Attend an Education Abroad 101 Session
    • Click on the Apply Now button at the top of this page
    • Schedule a meeting with an Education Abroad Advisor BEFORE the application deadline
  2. Drake Exchange Nomination
    • Receive notification of status within two weeks after the application deadline
  3. Host University Application 
    • Schedule a meeting with an Education Abroad Advisor to complete the host university application AFTER nomination
  4. Host University Acceptance
    • Upload a copy of host university acceptance letter to application
